Storyboard Text

  • Hey Bernie.
  • Hi Maxine, how are you today?
  • I'm a little bummed. I went to post my favorite song on Instagram and they copyrighted me. I don't even know what a copyright is.
  • Awe. Don't cry Maxine! I can help you with that!
  • Really?
  • Copyright is simply a legal means of protecting someones work. It is a type of intellectual property that offers unique publication, distribution, and usage rights for an author.
  • Yes. So...
  • So what does this mean for the music?
  • Well Maxine, if your song isn't owned by you then you cannot post more than 30 seconds of it.
  • Whether it was a record, cassette tape, CD, or audio clip, ONLY up to 10% of a copyright musical creation may be utilized as part of a multimedia program produced by students (or teachers).
  • Oh wow! I didn't know that! So, if I make my song 25 seconds it should work?
  • So what does this mean for the music?
  • It sure should! its only fair for the creator if it's that way!
  • Aw GREAT! thanks so much Bernie! I can't wait to show Ms. McCall my project now.
  • No Problem Maxine! Good luck and remember 30 seconds or less! :)
