"Go back to bed, you don't know what you are saying."
"Do you think I am afraid of a child that I nursed?"
It was a dark cold night and the room was filled with silence. When all a sudden Mr.White jumped up from his bed. Mrs.White was sobbing herself to sleep. Their son had died, so they thought. The Monkeys Paw, a magical wishbone type of object can to Mrs.White's mind.
What will happen if I make my wish?
Mrs.White suddenly remembered that her husband was granted three wishes and he had two left. After she was devastated when her son was gone, she begged Mr.White to wish him back to life. Mr.White had a puzzled grimace on his face and did not believe that Mrs.White was really saying that.
"Wish, she cried in a strong voice."
"I Wish my son alive again."
Mrs.White was very worried for what her fate would be. Mr.White went to bring some light to the room from a candle. Mr.White was begging his wife to understand that their son has been dead for ten days and that they would never recognize him. She was forcing him to bring their son back.
Mr.White made his way to the parlor, a private dimmed room by himself. An eerie fear can upon him before he made his wish. He was worried that if he made this wish that it would return his disfigured son in front of him before he could get out of the black room. He soon made his way to his wife wondering what she would think.
Mr.White did not want to make the wish, but Mrs.White was begging and pleading him to make their son come back. Once she convinced him to pray for their son Herbert they went to bed shortly after. They were hoping in the morning they would see their son, until they heard a knock at the door.
Mrs.White rushed to the front door claiming that her son was waiting for them. Before she could grab the door knob Mr.White pulled her fragile wrist and said to never open the door. She thought that Mr.White was afraid of their own son. She came free of his grasp and Mr.White scrambled for the paw with one wish left. She opened the door and saw nothing but a dark night.
