Storyboard Text

  • Teacher, I forgot what Transverse waves are?
  • Juan, transverse waves are a wave that moves the medium at a right angle to the direction the wave travels.
  • But what is a medium?
  • Oh, and also waves travel faster on a solid and slowest on a gas.
  •  The medium is the material through which a wave travels through. It can be a solid, liquid or a gas.
  • Also, I wanted to ask what are the parts of the wave?
  • Both of  these are the maximum displacement up or down, that means those two are farthest away from the resting position
  • The parts of the wave are, The Crest: the highest part of the transverse wave and The Trough:the lowest part of the transverse wave
  • Is there anything else I need to know?
  • As i said earlier it´s how far away the crest and trough are from the resting position.
  • Yes, you need to know Amplitude, amplitude is the measure of maximum displacement as I said earlier.
  • What would be an example?
  • There is one more thing you need to know and that is Wavelength, wavelength is one complete wave cycle.
  • An example would be the distance from crest to crest or trough to trough.
  • I have to go now, have a good day
  • Thank you, teacher now I know everything I need for the test tomorrow.
  • You too.
