In this scene, Daedalus is coming up with the idea of getting away from this place by telling his son to find as many feathers from the beach he can. Line 13-14 "He called his son,Icarus, to him and told the boy to gather up all the feathers he could find on the rocky shore."
This part of the book Icarus is picking up feathers for his father because they are trying to escape. Line 15-16 "As thousands of seagulls soared over the island, Icarus soon collected a huge pile of feathers."
During this scene of the book Daedalus and Icarus take flight in the air trying to escape from being prsioners. Line 52-54 "Daedalus's eyes filled with tears, and turning away, he soared into the sky, calling to Icarus to follow"
This part of the text Icarus flew to high to the sun because he didn´t listen to his father when he said don´t fly to high because the sun will melt the wax. Line 70-71 ¨The blazing sun beat down on the wings and softened the wax.¨
In this part of the text Daedelous saves his son from dieing in the ocean because Icarus´s wings broke when he went to close to the sun. Line 84-86 ¨He gathered the boy in his arms and flew to land, the tips of his wings dragging in the water from the doublw burden they bore.¨
The theme/lesson we could learn here is to listen to your parents because it most likely will be important. Line 44-46 ¨Keep at a moderate height, for if you fly to low, the fog and spray will clog your wings, and if you fly too high, the heat will melt the wax that holds them together." This shows that later in th estory that Icarus flew too high because he didn´t listen and they failed to escape.
