The story begins with a young Greaser named Ponyboy walking out of the movies. Suddenly, a member of the Socs, a rival gang jump him. Ponyboy is saved when a group of his fellow Greasers come to the rescue.
We're so sorry...…..
There's a rivalry between the Socs and the Greasers. The Socs are wealthy, while the Greasers live in poverty. Both gangs despise each other and constantly clash.
What is happening? Why is this happening? When will it stop? I miss Johnny....
Johnny killed a Soc to stop him from hurting his friend, forcing the boys to flee out of town. In their absence, the tension between the groups increases. Both boys hid in an old church, which one day catches fire. The boys save the children inside. Johnny is badly injured.
I guess I should start at the beginning....
Johnny passes away leaving all the Greasers in shock and Ponyboy in grief and despair. Ponyboy isn't sure how he feels aboutthe upcoming fight.
The major battle happens between the rival gangs. Dallas dies and Ponyboy is knocked unconscious. He wakes up several days later in bed at home. Darrel and Ponyboy reconcile. Soon a trial takes place to determine Ponyboy's future.
In the end, Ponyboy is slowly recovering from the emotional and physical trauma. He is acquitted from the trial and is assigned to write a novel by his teacher. The opening line is the start of the book.
