Today we will be taking about atoms. Atoms are made up of 3 parts,Protons,Neutrons, and electrons First Atoms are what make up everything in the world. They make up the molecules in everything. Atoms are microscopic and are made up of three components protons, neutrons, and electrons
Protons Protons are a part of the atom and determines what type of atom it is. For example helium has 2 protons but if it had 1 it would have been hydrogen. It also has a negative charge which was to be match with electrons unless you want an positive ion. Are also found in the nucleus.
Neutrons Neutrons also make up the nucleus, they have a neutral charge and are together with the protons in the nucleus.
Electrons Electrons are on the outside of the nucleus and rotate around it, they also hold the Atom together because of it's negative charge, and because of the protons positive charge they attract. The number of electrons have to match the number of protons, but if there is more electrons than protons the Atom will be a negative ion
