Nicolaus Copernicus was born in Poland 1473. He was the modern father of astronomy. He was the first European scientist to propose that the Earth revolved around the sun. He was educated in Italy. He wrote Little Commentary, he correctly put all planets in the correct order. He wrote six books about heavenly rotations released in 1543 when he died.
Considered the father of modern science. Galileo, Galilei (1564-1642) made major contributions to physics, astronomy, cosmology, mathematics and philosophy. He invented an improved telescope and observed and described rings of Saturn, phases of Venus. He supported the heliocentric view of the universe. He died under house arrest.
Church Versus Scientific Revolution
Sir Issac Newton, established universal laws on motion and gravity. He published Principia that established the laws. (1643-1727) Opticks properties of light was published. he was the father of modern physics. He went to the university of Cambridge, Trinity College in England.
Scientific Revolution impacts
Francis Bacon he discovered the scientific method. He was Lord Chancellor of England. He was a member of parliament. He was the Attorney General. He published a collection of essays about politics. He wrote the advancement of Learning. (1561-1626)
The church believed that the universe was Earth centered. All planets sun revolve around the Earth. They believed in natural laws which were established by God. They thought anything or anyone that differed, was in direct conflict with God and his laws.
We still use Newton's laws of gravity and motion. We use the scientific method to conduct experiments. We know Copernicus and Galileo were correct the planets revolve around the sun. We still use telescopes. They are all relevant today.
