The characters in this story is the blind homeless kid, Tito. His comrade Bimbo. He's unexpectedly a dog who takes care of Tito. Bimbo acts as Tito's "parents" in the port city of Pompeii.
The birthday of Ceaser brought Pompeii to celebrate. Tito and Bimbo partake in the celebration. A man, Rufus foreshadows Vesuvius's major eruption. Bimbo heeds his warning and senses something isn't right. He urges Tito to make an escape as soon as possible . Though Tito didn't get the hint only soon after.
The conflict that causes the problem throughout the story is the volcano Vesuvius. The volcano represents an external conflict; character vs. nature
The major eruption of Vesuvius has Tito and Bimbo escaping to the sea. Along with other residents trapped in the chaotic event in Pompeii.
Tito was to the point of giving up. Due to his starvation and the volcano debris slowing him down. Though Bimbo's determination didn't let Tito stop.
Tito was saved. Though he was devastated because of Bimbo's loss. Tito might have survived but Bimbo didn't due to the fact he was trying to grab food for his starving friend.
