Galileo Galilei was born on February 15, 1564. He was born in Pisa, Italy. His most famous invention was the telescope.
He entered the University of Pisa to study medicine. He became fascinated with many subjects especially mathematics and physics. Even thought he left the university before earning his degree he still had many opportunities to teach as a professor. His first book he wrote was called"The Little Balance. It was about hydrostatic principles of weighing small objects, it brought him some fame.
In 1604 , Galileo heard about the invention of the skyglass. He used his knowledge to build the telescope and pointed it towards the moon. That same year he became the first man to look at the moon through a telescope.
I pointed my telescope towards the moon and made a discovery that the moon was not smooth. It was very rocky and had a lot of marks.
Galileo supported the Copernican theory that the earth and planets revolve around the sun.
In January 1610,I discovered the four moon revolving around Jupiter. I named the moons of Jupiter after the Medici Family.He also discovered that phrases Venus has.
Galileo's discoveries of Jupiter's moons proved that there is more than one centre in the universe and that the phrases of Venus revolve around the Sun showed that Copernicus's theory was correct. It was a turning point in the scientific revolution. Galileo died on January 8, 1642.
