After suffering losses from the Boston Tea Party, the King closed Boston Harbor until the colonists were willing to pay for the tea.
The king also banned any town meetings from taking place in Massachusetts. The colonists decided instead to form the First Continental Congress.
After the King imposed these acts, the colonists decided to form the First Continental Congress, where they decide to start a new boycott. The patriots also started to form small groups of militias called Minutemen, who would steal supplies such as guns and gunpowder from armories.
