Oedipus was then adopted by King Polybus and Queen Merope because Oedipus was going to be left to die by his parents.
Many years later, Oedipus leaves Corinth and travels to the city of Thebes.
On his way to Thebes, Oedipus runs into his birth father and kills him.
Creon, Queen Jacosta’s brother, said that any person who could solve the riddle and rid the city of the Sphinx would be made king of Thebes and receive the queen’s hand in marriage. They go on to have 2 daughters and 2 sons.
Oedipus is exiled from Thebes many years later, when the truth comes out that he killed his father and he eventually dies in Colonus.
