  • Simon Wheeler tells Mark Twain stories about Smiley and his life and how he as a gambling problem.
  • Smiley gambling on many things, unnecessary things.
  • Smiley bets that his dog would beat the dog with no hind legs, however, he was wrong and the dog with no legs beat his.
  • (pretend the dragon is a frog) One day, Smiley found a frog that he wanted to train, so he did. 
  • Smiley was able to train the frog to jump very high by getting it to chase flies.
  • Smiley met a man with a frog, so he wanted to bet that his frog could jump higher. The man secretly put quail pellets inside Smiley's frog so that it could not jump as high.
