  • Some of the tools used for Mummification are linen, sawdust,beeswax, and Nile mud.
  • The people who performed Mummification were elmbalmers which also worked as priests.
  • But people believed the God Anubis also helped
  • Insert a hook through a hole near the nose and pull out part of the brain. Make a cut on the left side of the body near the tummy. Remove all internal organs. Let the internal organs dry. Place the lungs, intestines, stomach and liver inside canopic jars. Place the heart back inside the body. Rinse inside of body with wine and spices. Cover the corpse with natron (salt) for 70 days. After 40 days stuff the body with linen or sand to give it a more human shape. After the 70 days wrap the body from head to toe in bandages. Place in a sarcophagus
  • The process of mummification took about 70 days in all.
  • Mummification was very important in the fact that it prepared people for the afterlife.
  • many of their belongings that might be needed in the afterlife. If the mummy belonged to a very rich person, such as the Pharaoh, he would be buried with objects made out of gold, for example jewelry.
  •   The Opening of the Mouth ceremony, based on the Osiris legend. A priest wearing a jackal-headed mask representing the god Anubis held the mummy's coffin upright while another priest touched the mouth of the mummy with ritual instruments. The Egyptians believed that from a person's death until the performance of this ceremony the body could not hear, see, or speak. Once the ceremony was finished, the use of the senses returned and the deceased could eat and drink in the afterlife After the ceremony an offering of food, ointment, and clothing was given to the deceased.
