  • Congress can't prevent us from bringing slaves into new territories
  • The Wilmot Proviso was a bill that outlawed slavery in any territory aquired from the War with Mexico.

  • We should be able to bring slaves into any territory that we recieve
  • To please the North, California will be admitted as a slave state and the slave trade will be abolished in D.C
  • To please the South, Congress will not pass laws regarding slavery and pass a stronger law for slave owners

  • I am outraged by the Fugitive Slave Act. I am writing Uncle Tom's Cabin to express my feelings.
