The second Punic War started when Carthage started expanding their land into Spain and invading Spain.
Carthage people expanding their land into Spain
Rome decided to help Spain but Carthaginians didn't like that so they sent their greatest general over, Hannibal.
The Carthage army ended up losing lots of men, horses, and elephants in the Alps but then in the next battle, the Battle Of Cannae, the Roman army suffered a large loss.
The Romans raised a new army led by Scipio and soon decided to invade Hannibal's army.
A new army training
Then what they had all been training for happened. The Battle Of Zama. Scipio defeated Hannibal in this battle and forced Carthage to give up Spain and pay a huge fine.
But even after Scipio defeated Carthage they still saw Carthage as a threat so they burned Carthage and enslaved the Carthaginian people.
