Women begin to assemble for the first national suffrage parade, Washington. they started to protest after the meeting with the president Woodrow Wilson in the year 1917.
Mr.President what will you do for woman suffrage.
Mr.President how long must woman wait for liberty.
Six silent suffrage sentinels picket each entrance to the White Houseto impress the President with their cause.
I am here to help you!
we are all here to help you too!
The silent sentinels protest were organised by the National woman's party, the NWP achieved what most thought impossible, securing an amendment to the US Constitution guaranteeing women the right to vote
"Kaiser Wilson, have you forgotten your sympathy with the poor Germans because they were not self-governed? 20,000,000 American women are not self-governed. Take the beam out of your own eye."
the women were arrested while they were protesting about their liberty. At first they were tolerated but they were later arrested on charges of obstructing traffic.
Men and women present at the scene of the White House showed their support for the Sentinels by bringing them hot drinks and hot bricks
Some people wholeheartedly approved of the work Silent Sentinels were performing. On the other hand, some disapproved of Silent Sentinels' protests.
