Battle of Trenton
Battle of Saratoga
Battle of Yorktown
On December 25, Washington and the troops that he had left launched a surprise attack on German mercenaries. They crossed the Delaware river and stormed Trenton. This victory and the next victory at the battle of Princeton gave Americans hope that liberty wasn't dead.
After marching 30 miles, British General John Burgoyne and his troops ran into militia troops at Saratoga. Other British troops were supposed to meet the first set of troops but they never arrived. After being surrounded Burgoyne surrendered. This victory was a major turning point in the revolution. This victory made French join the war to aid the Americans.
This battle ended the war. It took several months but Britain finally gave up. It wasn't until over two years later that the war was officially over. American and British representatives signed the Treaty of Paris in September 1783. This battle caused the death of 25,000 Americans.
