The Second Punic War

Roman troops burned the city to the ground and sold its people into slavery.
Legends say Romans even plowed salt into the ground where the Carthage had stood so nothing would ever grow there again.
The First Punic War began in 264 B.C. The cause of this war was the Rome sent troops to Sicily. Sicily is an island claimed by Carthage.
A brilliant general from Carthage named Hannibal launched the second Punic war. In 218 B.C, in spring, Hannibal led an army of 40,000 soldiers and 40 war elephants from Spain.
The Third Punic War erupted in 149 B.C when Roman troops vowed to end the power of Carthage forever.
