The First Continental Congress was a meeting in Philadelphia where 56 delegates from 12 colonies, not including Georgia, to discuss about liberty. They met in secret from the King of Great Britain because they were talking about the Intolerable Acts. This is an important event because this shows how the colonies want to be united, and would sneak around the people of Britain, showing that the colonies did not care about Britain. This lead the colonies to independence because they discussed about the bad things of Britain and mention secret, and that they are united without Britain.
The Battles of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775. On April 19, some 700 British troops arrived in Lexington and came upon 77 militiamen gathered on the town green. The heavily outnumbered militiamen had just been ordered by their commander to disperse when a shot rang out. To this day, no one knows which side fired first. Several British volleys were subsequently unleashed before order could be restored. When the smoke cleared, eight militiamen lay dead and nine were wounded, while only one Redcoat was injured. This event is important because it shows how the British does not mind hurting the colonies. This lead the colonies to independence because it shows how thcolonies do not need the British, and the British just hurt the colonies.
