  • Conflict is a literary element that involves a struggle between two opposing forces, usually a protagonist and an antagonist.The conflict in the story is when the mad man murders the old man. In the story the mad man kills the old man because he hates his film covered eye, therefor he kills him.

  • Suspense is defined as the device that authors use to keep their readers’ interest alive throughout the work. The suspense is when the police investigate the mad man to see if he knows anything about the old mans murder while the mad man hears the constant ticking in his head.
