a house in a neighborhood in the 1800s Due to the police saying on page 629 "A shriek had been heard by a neighbor during the night".
Theme- The underlying subject in a story
the unnamed murderer is our pov character as throughout the entire story we never change Our pov Character. We know this by the narrator saying on page 625 "How calmly i can tell you the whole story."
symbolism- using Person places or objects to symbolize
The main conflict is that the murderer Doesn't like the old man's eye as he says on page 626 "It was not the old man who vexed me it was his evil eye.
Suspense- the build up to a pay-off
The theme in the tell tale heart is that, is that Guilt can and will drive a person mad. as on page he says 630 "villains! i shrieked dissemble no more! I admit the deed."
A piece of symbolism in the tell-tale heart is the officers which in my opinion is a living embodiment of his inner guilt. As he is slowly broken down when his ego gets too inflated and he sits in the exact spot he buried the victim and his Guilt of the cops and his insanity clash. when he says on page 630 "Anything was more tolerable than this derision !"
Suspense in the story is when we are told he went into the room eight times to kill him. This built up to his eventual murder. As it says on page 626 it says "And every night about midnight i turned the latch of his door and opened it -oh,so gently."
