  • We need something that will serve as a written doc. now that we have declared freedom from Brittan.
  • Fella's that's a great idea. Lets get to work!
  • I know, how about an Article of Confederation?
  • 3. The Ordinance of 1785
  • NOW U.S. TERRITORY
  • Before the Articles of Confederation were written, the states had to come up with a new way to run their states. These were called the State Constitutions, where each state had its own individual laws, rules, and even currency.
  • 4. The Northwest Ordinance
  • NOW U.S. TERRITORY
  • On  November 15, 1777, a group of congress gathered around and discussed a form of government that the states could used now that they were independent form Brittian. this was called, The Articles of Confederation
  • 5. Weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation
  • No power to collect tax = No money
  • X
  • No national executive= no enforcements of laws
  • The Land Ordinance of 1785 was adopted by the United States Congress of the Confederation on May 20, 1785. It set up a standardized system whereby settlers could purchase title to farmland in the undeveloped west.
  • 6.-7.Shay's Rebellion/ The need for change
  • WE WANT OUR FARMS BACK!
  • Now is the best time for change!
  • The Northwest Ordinance was when the U.S. took over land beyond the Appalachian Mountians, to the north, and the Ohio River to the south. This was the first Organized territory of the United States.
  • U.S. Border
  • Appalachian Mountians
  • A couple examples of the weaknesses of the Articles Of Confederation are: no power to collect taxes= no $$; No national court system= No point in holding trials; And no national executive= they could create laws but not enforce them.
  • No National Court system
  • Of what though??
  • GUILTY!!
  • NOPE!!
  • Says rebellion was on Feb. 27, 1787. It all started when the government took away all the farmers land because of debt. This resulted in a huge protest protesting the "tax"(I guess?)
