Storyboard Text

  • Hedgehogs are prey to most birds, and ferrets. Smaller species like the long eared hedgehog is prey to foxes, wolves, and mongooses.
  • If hedgehogs are out during the day it's either for food or their home was destroyed.
  • Hedgehogs live underground to shield themselves from the sun, hedgehogs also live underground because most of their food source is located there.
  • Hedgehogs quills are really just modified hairs, originally hedgehogs did not have quills, they were prey animals so they developed quills over time for protection.
  • Hedgehogs are a usual brown-grayish color, maybe even white, their color helps them blend in with their surrounding for camouflage.
  • Hedgehogs can live in a variety of habitats, including the savanna.
  • Mother hedgehogs tend to sometimes eat their young. They eat their babies when they are disturbed and fear for the babies' lives—the nutrients being absorbed into her body is better than the nutrients going to a predator.
