  • May 10, 1775 - The Capture of Fort Ticonderoga
  • We surrender!
  • June 17, 1775 - Battle of Bunker Hill
  • FIRE!
  • July 4, 1776 - Declaration of Independence
  • The Green Mountain Boys led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold captures Fort Ticonderoga and all the cannons and ammunition from the British. The patriots faced almost no resistance and managed to capture the fort. This event helped balance the struggle of Washington’s forces trying to keep the British contained in Boston.
  • June 14, 1777 - Flag
  • On June 17, 1775, the British Army attacked the Continental Army who was in their fortifications located at Breed's Hill and Bunker Hill. The British Army eventually took over the hill, however, this battle is considered as the Continental Army's victory because the British suffered much more casualties than the Continental Army. Furthermore, this battle showed that the colonies were able to fight back against the British Empire

  • Here are the plans for the structure of our government.
  • The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson. The Continental Congress voted for independence on July 2, and on July 4, 1776, the final version of the Declaration of Independence was officially adopted by the Congress.
  • September 3, 1783 - Treaty of Paris
  • We declare ourselves as an independent state!
  • We are finally officially recognized as an independent country!!
  • The “Stars and Stripes” Flag was adopted by the Continental Congress to represent the united colonies.
  • This is the new flag that will represent us!
  • A plan of government organization of the United States known as the Articles of Confederation was officially ratified by the states on March 1, 1781. This defined the official government of the United States.
  • The Treaty of Paris was the official peace treaty between the United States and Britain that ended the American Revolutionary War. The treaty was signed on September 3, 1783. The United States of America was now officially recognized as an independent state by the British Empire.
