  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • The narrator is reminded of doodle when he looks at the grave stone, he remembers that he was upset when doodle was born
  • Climax
  • When doodle was born he thought that he was gonna have someone to run around with, but instead he got stuck pulling doodle around with him everywhere he goes 
  • Falling Action
  • The narrator is embarrassed that he has a 5 year old brother who can't walk. So his goal was to teach doodle how to walk by his 6th birthday in October.
  • Resolution
  • It starts to thunderstorm when doodle is learning to row a boat and they have to go run home. Doodle isn't very good at running and the narrator leaves him behind even though he is asking for help.
  • The narrator notices that doodle wasn't coming towards him so he went back to look for him. When he found him he was laying under a tree with head thrown back very far just like the scarlet ibis. 
  • When he saw doodle his head was limp and he had blood coming out of his mouth. His shirt was stained red with blood. The narrator held his body over him protecting him from the rain for a long time
