In 58 B.C Julius Caesar's armies conquered France. He became wildly popular and later lad his solders into Rome. Once there he made himself dictator.
Julius Caesar revised the Roman calendar he gave land and grain to the poor. He increased the number of people in the senate and granted citizenship to foreigners.
Caesar's enemies surrounded him at the senate building and stabbed him to death.

Octavian forced Lepidus to retire. He divided the Roman world withe Anthony. They came into conflict with each other. Octavian told the senate that Anthony and Cleopatra made an alliance. Octavian crushed Anthony in war.
Octavian and Cleopatra fled to Egypt and killed themselves. Octavian now stood alone at top of the Roman world.
Octavian was named Imperator he had the power to veto any law, rule all Roman provinces and control the army.
