- Sasha, or "Luke" has autism and from a young age was told that they would never succeed.

- By sophomore year, Sasha finds out that they are agender, gray-cupiosexual, quioromantic and go by the pronouns They/Them.

- Richard, a black teen from Oakland, gets arrested along with his friends at 14 because of an argument and misunderstanding with skateboards. (There are no details as he was a minor) He goes to a group home in Redding for an entire year.

- Richard...You did a hate crime. Even if you meant it or not, you will be sentenced to 7 years in prison. You have a chance at 5 but that would take a long time.
- On a bright day, Sasha (18) and Richard (16) would soon have a story that stays with them since the rest of their life. While Sasha sleeps, Richard flicks a lighter near their skirt. They get set on fire.
- Richard gets arrested again outside of his school but this time for doing a hate-crime and gets in more trouble when he said he is homophobic
- I- I'm sorry...I was going to help but it was too late.
- RIchard goes into court and is to stay in juvenile but get charged as an adult. He has to stay in prison for 7 years, just before his 21st birthday.
