Storyboard Text

  • Santa-Domingue was one of the richest European colonies in the Caribbean. It Produced coffee, sugar, cotton that accounted for one third of France’s foreign trade.
  • I am making so much money from this
  • But in order to achieve this wealth the French had to rely on slave labor. The Europeans forced their slaves so hard with little to no care that the morality was high.
  • Shut up, and Work!
  • Sir, the sun is burning me can I take a break
  • The treatment of slaves was so bad that in order to further establish their authority. Europeans established a social hieracy with them at the top.
  • Voudou Priest suggest that they run away into the mountains to join up in communities of maroons, descendants of Africans who formed settlements away from slavery.
  • Son as a European we are at the top, and life is easy for us
  • Then came the gens de couleur (people of mixed race, primarily African and European)
  • How was the Market today, Honey!
  • It was Good! I was able to sale a lot today!
  • With Slaves at the bottom
  • We have to find a way out!
  • Honey come rest. They really keep making you work hard.
  • WE HAVE TO LEAVE!
  • Lets go the mountains!
