Storyboard Text

  • Vegetation and soils are a good starting point for the carbon cycle. In this case, the carbon will be mixed into the earth (soil), and moved to the crust.
  • When the carbon is in the crust, it usually moved into a different stage over a long period of time. This carbon atom will now be flown downstream from a river and into the ocean.
  • Once in the ocean, the carbon atom has many other ways to go from one carbon source pool to another. This carbon atom will be eaten by a small fish, then a bigger fish.
  • When the fish dies, it will become a fossil, and turn into a fossil fuel for the carbon atom. It will them be extracted by humans for Kerogen and burnt into the Atmosphere.
  • Once in the Atmosphere, it will either become a heavy carbon atom, will be cycle through Photosynthesis, etc. In this case, the carbon atom will be dragged into photosynthesis.
  • When the atom is back into the vegetation, the cycle will repeat, but there are many ways it shall begin/end. The Carbon Cycle can start at any stage, go through any stage, and end at any stage.
