Goodbye mom. I love you too. Hopefully I will see you sometime again.
The Middle Age story: Knight
Goodbye honey, I love you very much.
Arrive at the Lord's manor
I think this is his manor...
Becoming a Squire
Congradulations, Jonathan you are of age to become a squire.
Kids at the age of 7 or so are sent off to live with a lord to train to become a knight. The will become a page when they get trained more at the lord's manor.
I think we need to go that way...
Are you sure?
The manor of the lord is very big. Here, this kid will be trained to serve adults, carry messages, run errands, waiting tables during meals, was taught manners, how to sing and play the harp.
The Dubbing Ceremony
(Skipped ahead of time 7 years) When a page becomes 14, he becomes a squire. His responsibilities shift to accompanying his lord everywhere. This includes hunting and fishing excursions, on journeys to inspect land and other holdings, to tournaments, and battles.
The squire had to accompany his lord everywhere. His responibilities shifted so that he had a lot of jobs to do. Here, the lord was hunting and they got lost. So they are trying to find their way back home.
The Dubbing ceremony is what is happening here. They go to a church and a noble taps the squire on each shoulder 3 times; then they are officially a knight. The church has a part too. They make it so the knight is loyal to their king and church.
After the Dubbing Ceremony, the knight doesnt have to serve their lord any longer. They guard castles, churches, and many more. Sometimes, they go into battles.
