Storyboard Text

  • Doodle learns to walk
  • Doodle sees the Casket
  • Burial of the Scarlet Ibis
  • My brother was trying to teach me how to walk. It was very difficult and I wanted to quit. I knew I could not give up on him however, so I kept trying to persevere and eventually I got the hang of it. In the book it says Doodle has trouble walking and continued to fall, but he is pushed by his brother and eventually prevails
  • Learning More Activities
  • My brother takes me for a walk as usual. I love going on walks with my brother because he makes me feel protected and loved. He then makes a stop at the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. It was called Old Woman's Swamp. In the swamp my brother tells me the casket I seen is mine. I deny and he tells me to touch it. I refuse, but he says he will leave me I don't like being left alone so I do it.
  • The Water gets Rough
  • I see a dying bird and I must bury it. I do not know why I feel so attached to the bird. My family is telling me to leave it alone, but I cannot I attempt to bury the bird. They call me in for dinner, but I have to finish. I bury the bird and I go inside. One of the adults tell me those birds are bad luck but i don't pay much attention to it
  • The death of Doodle
  • My brother sees how much I can do and begins to expect more from me. He takes me to a boat so I can learn how to row it. He makes me row the boat, but helps me starting off. After he lets me do it all by myself. I'm doing a pretty good job and I can see the joy on my brothers face
  • A large storm begins to form and the sea gets rough. I continue to try to control the boat, but it gets difficult. I ask my brother to help me, but he just continues to push me forward. I give in and we have to struggle to shore. I had to give up on my brother because the task begins to become overwhelming.
  • Me and my brother make an attempt to escape the daunting storm. I can barely run so I am not very fast. My brother is running and gets ahead of me a lot. I do not like to be left alone so I tell him to wait but he looked back and kept going. I was lost in the storm and died.
