I signed up as a voyageur because my dad cut his finger off on accident so he would not be able to sign up so we would have barley any money . I'm showing my parents my engagement papers. My mom is sad and angry and my dad is proud and happy.
I'm still holding up pretty well since st. Anne. I think I get along with my brigade pretty well they treat me nicely but they have all ready given me a nick name. my blisters hurt really bad right now and my muscles are aching so bad. I am a little homesick I´d rather be doing Latin poems right now or any day over this.
We decided to portage today the carry was light for me after they filled my pack full of musket balls last time. They said it was company law to not go threw the rapids but some voyaguer's did not follow the rule's
We stuck to the shore but then we tried to test our luck and take a shortcut it didn't work at all. We started to take on a lot of water from the wave's another canoe had to come help us so we didn't sink and loose our trading good's.
We finally made it to GRAND PORTAGE we just unloaded our canoe's. Me and charbonneau just got up the hill. Its my first time seeing an Ojibwe person and it so happend to be Charbonneau's best friend his name is Mukwa and his daughters name is Kennawah.
I'm for sure going to be signing up next time. I'm not going to be wintering this time. I'm going to try to get stronger so I can keep up with everyone else. But I can't wait to see my family again.
