Three days of Fighting: Gettysburg

Three days of Fighting: Gettysburg

Storyboard Text

  • July 1, the Confederates drove the Union forces out of Gettysburg. The Yankees, however, took up strong positions on Cemetery Ridge, looking down the town below. Union troops strengthened these positions throughout that night by scouting out the areas and adding addition troops.
  • I'm so TIRED. When does this end??
  • Ok Folks we'll stay here. This looks like a great place. We have an advantage since we can see if someone's coming. I'll need two soldiers to gather the rest of the troop. Everyone go in a single FILE LINE please.
  • July 2, Lee ordered an attack on both ends of the line the Union army had formed, which was uphill. This made the attacks difficult because they were running uphill. Southern troops fought hard, but the Union army was well prepared for Lee’s attack. At the end of a day of savage fighting, Lee’s forces had lost a lot of soldiers but failed to remove the Union army from its strong position.
  • Remember what Lee said. Attack both ends of the line. Just both ends. Understand??
  • General George the reason I asked you out here was to talk. SInce out last plan didn't work we will try another and this will work.I want you and about 15,000 men to charge against the middle part of the Union line.
  • Yes sir, hopefully this works sir.
