  • Hi! I am a doctor and today I will be talking about the disease called Muscular Dystrophy.
  • Muscular Dystrophy is a group of diseases that causes progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass within the body.
  • Muscular Dystrophy is caused by genetic mutations that interfere with the production of muscle proteins that are needed to build and maintain healthy muscles.
  • Some symptoms of Muscular Dystrophy are difficulty standing, muscle weakness, abnormality walking, and enlarged calves, however there are many more sympotms one can have.
  • Although there is no cure for this disease, there are many actions to take such as physical therapy and medications like steroids to help control the symptoms.
  • This disease represents a malfunction the muscular system because the muscles are too weak due to genetic mutations, so they are not able to function properly and allow the patient to use their muscles to their full extent.
