In this scene, Ken just figured out that his parents signed him up to go Canada in escape of the war by reading this note that came in the mail. He is reluctant to go in the beginning, because he does not want to leave his family, but he ends up going because of his family circumstances in the current war.
Ken started his voyage to Canada but had to make a stop before he boarded the boat to go to Canada at an Orphan shelter. He figured out that his friend Terry was going on the trip too, and they were both excited for a new start in a warless country. Ken and Terry also made an effort to find friends, and they did!!
Finally, Ken and his friends were off to Canada!!The ship that Ken was on was grander than anything he had ever seen, and he was full of excitement for his voyage across the sea!
Everything is good for Ken and his friends, but suddenly they all wake with a thud... its a torpedo shot by the germans!!! They quickly rush to the lifeboats and float off into the night as the ship sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
After 8 days with little food and water, the crew on the lifeboat loses hope. Then as Ken was laying down looking at the sky suddenly he sees a plane flying over them!!!The plane flies down and symbolizes to the crew that they are getting help. about 3 hours later a ship came. They were saved!!!!!
As the Crew pulled into the dock, people flooded it with cheers and yells of joy. The lifeboat passengers hobbled off the ship to land. They were home!
