"Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don't belong no place."
"Ain't many guys travel around together... I don't know why."
"Its a lot nicer to go around with a guy you know."
" You know how the hands are, they just come in and get their bunk and work a month, and then they quit and go out alone."
This quote describes loneliness because the guys that work on the ranches are always men who travel alone and just work to earn enough money to live. They come by themselves and never live in one place, usually they just keep traveling and have no family nor friends with them at work places.
" I ain't wanted in the bunk house, and you ain't wanted in my room."
"Why ain't you wanted?"
In my opinion, since all the other men travel by themselves, they feel lonely and because George and Lennie travel together they don't feel that loneliness. Slim believes guys don't travel together and that makes them feel alone. Slim thinks men are scared of each other, but George tells him its better to have someone.
"Why can't I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody. I get awful lonely."
The men working on ranches come and go. After a little bit of work they leave alone, just like they arive. Slim thought it was odd that Lennie and George travel together, guys like them are usually lonely like the rest and spend most time alone.
"an' you got it away from him and you took it and killed him?"
"Yeah, that's how." George's voice was almost a whisper.
Since Crooks is black he explains to Lennie that he lives alone, can't live in the bunk house and is unwanted. Because of this Crooks is very looney, he doesn't talk to anyone or live with the men because he is a darker color. I believe Crooks comes off as a mean person because he is alone and rarely has communicates with others.
Based on what Curley's wife states, she feels very lonely and wants to talk to Lennie. Curley seems to never be with his wife, making her feel alone and upset, she's always looking for him and even tells Lennie her feelings.
Since George had shot Lennie, George had now lost his best friend. They were brother like, and had a close relationship but now he is gone and I feel George will miss him get lonely without him.
