A young girl in college is in classes for becoming a detective. Little does she know that her first mystery is closer than she thinks!
Just another day at Esme University!
I wonder why Ms. Dore is so sad...
Ms. Dore, are you okay?
Paige Holmes, a helpful, young woman of twenty-one, was on her way to her first class of the day, forensics science, at Esme University. She was studying to be a detective. Little did she know, she was extremely close to her first mystery.
Shelby Dore is an educated professor at Esme University. She has a masters' and bachelors in teaching college-level science. She has been teaching for over 50 years, while facing struggles of her own. Her husband was murdered by an unknown individual thirty years ago, on May 15th. She now spends her time living in downtown Lansic, spending time with her pets and knitting.
It all started when Paige was in science, and met her eighty-three year old teacher, the widowed Ms. Dore. She was grumpy and hardly happy, but nobody knew why. One day, after staying late after class to help clean up, she caught Ms. Dore crying behind her desk.
I love you, Shelb.
"Ms. Dore, are you okay?" Paige asked, comforting her. "Yes dear, I'm fine. Just fretting over stupid things that happened thirty years ago... just since my husband's....." "What do you mean? Please tell me more." "Actually, Miss Holmes, I believe you should be on your way," Ms. Dore said, wiping away her tears and once again putting on an emotionless face. "I will see you tomorrow."
30 Years and One month in the future (Present day)
Ms. Dore, I have something to tell you.
That evening, Paige looked up Ms. Dore on her phone. She found out that her husband was murdered 30 years ago, but the case was never solved. "I must do something..." Paige said under her breath. She began to look more into it, following the clues she found online. Over the next couple days, she explained to Ms. Dore whats he was doing. Ms. Dore graciously accepted her offer and answered all the questions she asked.
Mrs. and Mr. Dore were walking through Lansic one evening. The couple was in their 50s, but they were enthusiastic. Suddenly, a black car pulled up next to the couple, as a man dressed in black ran out and snatched Mr. Dore. Ms. Dore quickly memorized the license plate and ran away. She's ashamed to this day. Days later, authorities found Mr. Dore's body next to a river, but nothing was found, so the murder was dropped.
After a month of following clues, Paige had gotten to the bottom of the murder. She invited Ms. Dore to a cafe, where they mulled over everything. Paige reported that the murderer had been dead for 20 years, but was still found guilty. Ms. Dore was very thankful. She admitted her shame in running away. In the end, Paige was a successful student who passed university with flying colors. And yes, she did become a detective. The end.
