  • Division in the Country
  • In the 1850s there was division in the country between the Northern and Southern states.  Most Northerners were abolitionist believing that slavery should be banned. In the South, though it was a  different story, they believed that they had the right to own slaves and believed that the abolitinis were nothing but trouble makers.
