  • French and Indian War: After defending the colonies in the brutal war with the French and Indians, the British were heavily in debt and decided to tax and restrict the colonies.
  • Cause #2
  • The Boston Massacre: On March 5th, 1770, British soldiers fired into a crowd killing 5 men and injuring many more. This was because some sailors were throwing objects at them, making them feel threatened
  • Reaction #2
  • Colonial Reaction: In response to the Boston Massacre, colonists become outraged, protesting and becoming hostile and mean with British in the area.
  • Stamp Act: This Act was a tax where colonists had to put stickers on most paper goods to profit Britain. This helped pay Britain's debt while restricting rights and taxing common goods for colonists.
  • Colonial Reaction: In response to the Stamp Act, the colonists created the Sons of Liberty. This was a patriot group devoted to preserving the rights of the colonists.
