  • Plastic has played a very crucial rule during covid -19.It’s qualities like cheapness, availability made it a really useful resourceduring this pandemic time.
  • Good to her that from u guys, recently, I have been thinking about an issue i.e. the effect of covid – 19 on the rise of plastic pollution.
  • Indeed, it has been really useful but on the other hand we also know that plastic is non-biodegradable and can only be recycled up to some extent.
  • Like every other thing, it has it’s own pros and cons, let’s discuss them and see what is the overall impact.
  • The COVID-19 pandemic has reemphasized theindispensable role of plastics in our daily life. Plastics in terms of personalprotective equipment (PPEs) and other single-use medical equipment along withpackaging solutions owing to their inherent properties have emerged as alife-savior for protecting the health and safety of the frontline healthworkers and the common citizens during the pandemic.
  • However, plastics have been deemed as evilpolluter due to their indiscriminate littering and mismanagement amid increasedplastic usage and waste generation during this unprecedented crisis.
  • Considering the utilities and limitations of plastic along with its management or mismanagement, and the fate, we see that the consumers' irresponsible behaviour, and attitude and poor awareness, and the stress on waste management infrastructure in terms of collection, operation, and financial constraints as the major drivers, leading to mismanagement, turn plastic into an evil polluter of the environment.
  • We can see that plastic is acting as a protector of publichealth and polluter of the environment.
