Storyboard Text

  • One day Archimedes was drawing circles when he came up with a new principal called "Rules of Exponents"
  • This is the negative rule. If the exponent is negative you must put the base and exponet over 1
  • x^-a= 1/x^a
  • The next rule is the zero rule. It is any number by zero is one.
  • x^0=1
  • The next two rules are multiplication and power to a power.
  • In the multiplication rule, you keep the common base but add the exponent
  • In the power to a power rule you multiply the exponents!
  • X^a * X^b= X^a+b
  • (X^a)^b= X^a*b
  • The Quotient to a power is similar to the power to a power rule along with the power to a power rule
  • The next rules are Division and quotient to a power.
  • You keep the common base and subtract the exponents in the division rule
  • X^a / X^b= X^a-b
  • (X/Y)^a= X^a / Y^a
  • Archimedes finishes making the last rule, power to a power (example: (X^a)^b=X^a*b) then went back to drawing circles
