The Flight of Icarus
By Sally Benson
Daedalus told his son that he was going to create wings and he needed feathers so he sent his son to go look for feathers.
After Icarus found the feathers that Daedalus needed he gave them to him. Then Daedalus went to work to create the beautiful, and majesic wings for both him and Icarus.
Then Daedalus and Icarus took off, flying higher and higher, while Daedalus couldn't follow him because of his weight. While they were flying Icarus decided to fly higher and higher. When his Father clearly stated that he shouldn't fly too high or too low.
Then in a horrible turn of events the sun melted the feathers off the wings. Icarus kept flapping his wings with all of his strength, but he would keep flying down now matter what he did. He even tried calling for his father but his voice was lost to the infamous sea .
When Daedalus realized that his son was dead he like an eagle swooped in and carried his dead son to land. Where he built a temple to honer the god Apollo and he put up Icarus's wings as an offering.
