Rapunzel is based on a real-life story about a pagan merchant who was super overprotective of his daughter so he didn't let her have any suitors and her locked her in a tower. His daughter converted to Christianity and when he found out he got really mad and took her to this Roman Official. The Roman Official told him he should either behead her or give up his fortune so her cut off her head. Then he got struck by lightning and his daughter became famous in the Eastern Orthodox church.
Real life event
A girl named Rapunzel with very long hair is trapped in a tower by an evil witch.
She wants to be free from the tower and marry the prince who has found her that she has fallen in love with.
The witch finds out about the prince and cuts off Rapunzel's hair and sends her into the wilderness. She then tricks the prince and throws him off the tower into a thorny bush so he goes blind.
The prince wanders off into the wilderness until he finds Rapunzel again.
They are reunited and get married and live happily ever after.
