  • In 1845 the U.S. attempted to buy Cuba from Spain. Spain stated that they'd rather see Cuba sink into the ocean.
  • A Cuban poet and journalist in exile in New York. He started a Revolution in 1895 against Spain.
  • Although the Explosion was an accident, U.S. America use yellow journalism to blame in on the Spaniards.
  • U.S.S Maine sent a ship to Cuba to rescue the American citizens. The ship blew up before it completed the mission. February 15, 1898
  • On April 20 America declared war. The war lasted six months. The leaders were Theodore Roosevelt and Larnord Wood .
  • The rough riders was the first name given to the first U.S. volunteer Calvery under the leadership of Theodore Roosevelt.  
  • The United States and Spain signed the piece treaty of Paris on August 12 called a splendid little war. The war lasted 15 weeks.  
  • The debate of the piece treaty of Paris argued whether or not the U.S. had the right to annex the Philippines on February 6th 1899.
