In old day France, before the French Revolution, there were three Estates. First, Second, and Third Estate. The Third Estate was heavily mistreated and overlooked by the other two Estates. They were angry, poor, and decided that they had enough,
On October 5, 1789, a mob of women had enough and marched to the king's palace in Versailles. They marched the king back to Paris. Along with his family.
King Louis XVI is then set on trial and later executed on January 21, 1793. The Revolutionists find that he was conspiring with Austria, so he could keep his title as king. His wife was also tried and executed, Marie Antoinette. The mob went crazy.
Later on, an angry man who was a voice of the Revolutionists, Jean Paul Marat, has been stabbed. He died on July 13, 1793. The people of France then depict him as Jesus. His killer, Charlotte Corday, is executed.
A man who comes to power in France, Robespierre, is jealous of how Marat is depicted. The violence in France has gotten out of control , and the Reign of Terror is underway. Robespierre orders thousands of executions, and anyone who seems against the Revolution are executed. Robespierre is crazy with power and creates a cult to replace the Catholic Church. Then he's jailed.
Robespierre is tried and then executed. He's the last person to be executed in the Reign of Terror. A military leader of France, Napoleon, takes control of France 5 years after the Revolution in 1799. Then he's crowned emperor in 1804.
