Well Alex to put it simple the Mexican-American War was about between the United States and Mexico who fought for land. California and more states were Mexicos land and the United States tried to take it to make their country more bigger.
Hey Elizabeth? What is the Mexican-American War about?
How did the war began?
The war began in On April 25, 1846, Mexican cavalry attacked a group of U.S. soldiers in the disputed zone under the command of General Zachary Taylor, killing about a dozen. The American then used the media to get more people to volunteer to go to war against Mexico by saying the Mexicans opened fire in American territory when it was the other way around.
The United States and Mexico were the only people involved in the war but there was only a small amount of Irish people and some Natives such as Indians, Aztecs, etc.
Who was involved in the war?
We can use the media against the Mexicans for support from our people.
Indeed but let us not be fools but try to reason with the Mexicans to sell their land.
What were the results of the war?
In the end the Americans went to Mexico City. Mexico's last stronghold and they won. The Americans felt pity towards the Mexicans so they both decided to make a treaty which was called " The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo".Both countries basically tried to sweep this war off their shoulders because it was really uncalled for.
Connection to Chicano movements?
Wow, now that you think about it . That war affected the whole people of Mexico and the people that stayed here in the U.S.
Mexicans and mostly Chicano people who were here in the U.S. fought for their land to be given back and up to this day they still are fighting for what's theres.
