Persia was conquering many regions, and to Persia's dismay, Greece had helped Ionia fight the Persians for their freedom. For revenge, Persia wanted to hurt Greece, and asked for "earth and water." What they didn't know, is that this would start one of the most radical wars.
What we ask, is "earth and water".

The Battle of Marathon was one of the most famous because of Pheidippides's twenty-six mile run to tell the Athenians that they had been victorious in battle. This was King Darius I's first attempt upon conquering Greece.

The Battle of Thermopylae was one of the most famous because it had only lasted three days. On the third day, only three hundred Spartan soldiers remained. They fought around 50,000 Persians, and none of the Spartans survived. Among one of the was King Leonidas of Sparta.
The Battle of Salamis was played in Greek advantage. The Greek ships were slim and small, which could fit in tight spaces, while the Persian ships couldn't fit.

In the battle of Plataea, the Persian defeat Athenian navy, and think they had one, but were surprised attacked by Spartans.
The aftermath of the war devastated both Athens and Sparta. The Delian League was started by Athens to protect other city states against Persia
We shall be at peace with one another, to protect the future of Greece from the threats of Persia.
