  • Hi everybody, I am a time traveler and today we will be going back in time to the Renaissance. (14th century to 17th century.)
  • Florence, Italy
  • During the Middle Ages there was a time called the Dark Ages which was a time of famine, war, ignorance, and a pandemic know as the Black death. When the Renaissance had started it was know as rebirth and it was a relief for the people.
  • Humanism!!
  • It all started in Florence, Italy in the 14th century with the movement called Humanism which was the idea that man was the center of his universe.
  • Soon the Renaissance evolved and became huge in Europe. People did things such as art, science, architecture, and literature.
  • Some of the most famous paintings were: Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci, School of Athens by Raphael, and many more!
  • The Renaissance came to an end by the end of the 15th century with the Counter-Reformation which was when the Catholic church suppressed artists and writers. In 1545 anything that promoted humanism was punished by death.
