  • Honey I had no idea. What have I done!

  • Once Mr. Auld found out about Frederick Douglass learning to read, he was furious. Mrs. Auld felt ashamed for letting this happen. As a result she packed away her books and turned cold towards Frederick
  • Thank you. I will give this back tonight
  • One day when Frederick was wandering around to the grocery store, he saw a white boy. Next to the boy was a book was lying around. Frederick noticed his decrepit clothes. Opportunity knocked on the door. 
  • We can put an end to this!!
  • Frederick had just gone to the grocery store. He looked at the bread in his hand and walked up to the boy. Frederick had asked to trade the bread for a lesson on how to read and write. The boy blissfully accepted.
  • From then on Douglass learnt to read from different white boys with their school books. Step by step  Frederick was gaining more of an understanding of the world. Knowledge opened his heart and helped him change the world.
  • Now Frederick is known to give inspirational speeches for the abolition of slavery and racial inequality. By his powerful words and writings Frederick was able to express what he believed in a memorable way.
