Storyboard Text

  • When Great Britain started first passing different acts on the colonist, they saw them as an act of tyranny.
  • Britain Shouldn't be able to do this. There should be no taxation without REPRESENTATION!
  • So Britain repealed the Stamp act, but in its place they passed the declitor act, which allowed them to pass other laws and acts that made the colonist upset.
  • I can't take much more of this!
  • Britain keeps passing all of these laws and acts, it isn't right!
  • Then Britian passed the Townshend acts, which established duties on items to raise revenue, which the colonist took as taxes in disguise
  • How can they do this?!
  • We aren’t dump, we know this is just taxes in a different way!
  • Because of the taxes on British products, the colonists used boycotting on British goods as a way to protest, so the king would change the acts and taxes put upon the colonists.
  • This is unbelievable, how come we are taxed so much? It isn't fair!
  • The Boston Massacre was a turning point, because of the event people turned more toward the patriots side.
  • Go back to Britain, we don't want you here.
  • After the Intolerable acts, on April 18, 1775, the British march on Boston to seize a stockpile of the patriots resources.
  • And so began the first of many battles between the British and colonists in the Revolutionary War.
